In line with the guidelines of the Party and the State on international integration in education and training, particularly the Government’s major orientations on developing high-quality human resources in the context of deepening global integration, Lao Cai College has continuously strengthened international cooperation and expanded partnerships with reputable foreign institutions. Through these efforts, the College has gradually enhanced the quality of its training programs to meet the socio-economic development needs of the local community and the nation.

As part of a series of prominent international cooperation activities in early 2026, on January 16, 2026, Lao Cai College had the honor of welcoming and working with a delegation from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy. This meaningful event clearly demonstrated the College’s proactive approach to international integration and its commitment to enhancing human resource quality through foreign language education.

Strengthening Connections and Expanding International Cooperation in Education

The working session between Lao Cai College and the RELO delegation took place in an open, cooperative, and constructive atmosphere. Representing RELO were Mr. David George Fay, Director of the Regional English Language Office; Ms. Tran Thi Hai Yen, Program Coordinator; and Mr. Shidaun Campbell, an English Language Fellow currently teaching at Lao Cai College. Representing Lao Cai College were Mr. Hoang Quang Dat, President; Mr. Pham Duc Binh, Vice President; along with representatives from relevant departments, faculties, and specialized units.

During the meeting, the College’s leadership presented an overview of its development orientation and key training programs, with particular emphasis on ongoing efforts to enhance English language proficiency among faculty members, students, and learners. The RELO representatives highly appreciated the College’s proactive and open-minded approach while engaging in discussions on the English Language Fellow Program and potential avenues for future cooperation.

The event not only strengthened the cooperative relationship between Lao Cai College and the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy but also opened up opportunities for the College to access advanced training models aligned with international integration trends.

Innovating Teaching Methods and Enhancing Teachers’ Professional Capacity

Following the working session, Lao Cai College, in collaboration with RELO, organized a professional development workshop entitled “Turning Textbook Exercises into Speaking Activities with Drama.” The workshop attracted the participation of 62 English teachers from educational institutions across the province, including lower and upper secondary schools, vocational education and continuing education centers, Lao Cai College, and the Thai Nguyen University, Lao Cai Campus.

Through practical and engaging training content, RELO’s English Language Fellows shared modern, learner-centered teaching approaches that encourage creativity, interaction, and the development of practical communication skills. The workshop contributed to improving teachers’ professional competence and gradually standardizing and internationalizing English teaching methodologies in line with current educational reform requirements.

Expanding Learning Opportunities and Developing Young Learners

On the same day, Lao Cai College also held the opening ceremony of the English Access Scholarship Program, a meaningful initiative designed for upper secondary school students and Lao Cai College students who are passionate about English, demonstrate strong potential, and aspire to overcome challenges.

The ceremony was attended by the RELO delegation; Mr. Nguyen Minh Thuan, Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Department of Education and Training; representatives of upper secondary schools whose students were selected for the Access Program; parents of Access students; Access program instructors; and the leadership of Lao Cai College, together with 26 Access students (including 25 official participants and one reserve participant).

The Access Program not only helps students enhance their English language proficiency but also equips them with essential soft skills and global competencies, laying a solid foundation for accessing global knowledge and expanding future educational and career opportunities. This program serves as a vivid testament to Lao Cai College’s efforts to contribute to the development of high-quality young human resources for the locality and the country.

Cultural and Linguistic Exchange: Nurturing the Spirit of Global Integration

Concluding the day’s activities was a cultural and linguistic exchange program between the Regional English Language Office and Access Program students. Through interactive activities, games, and experience-sharing sessions, students had valuable opportunities to practice English in real-life contexts, enhance their confidence, deepen cultural understanding, and foster a sense of global citizenship.

The exchange program left a strong positive impression, helping to spread the spirit of international integration and inspire foreign language learning as well as global aspirations among young people.

The series of cooperative activities with the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy stands as vivid evidence of Lao Cai College’s sound development orientation in the context of deep international integration. By proactively expanding partnerships, innovating training approaches, and broadening learning opportunities for students, the College is gradually affirming its role as a dynamic and responsible vocational education institution, thereby contributing to the improvement of human resource quality in Lao Cai Province, in particular, and Vietnam as a whole.

Moving forward, Lao Cai College will continue to promote international cooperation, diversify partnership programs, and strive toward the goal of training human resources with strong professional expertise, foreign language proficiency, and global integration capacity, meeting the requirements of sustainable national development in the new era.
